DVLA Vehicle Lookup and Asset Reminders Dashboard
Kepthouse v1.3 is out with two features we have wanted to build since day one: automatic vehicle details from the DVLA and a dashboard that shows every important date across your vehicles, pets, and properties.
DVLA Vehicle Lookup
If you own a UK-registered vehicle, you no longer need to manually type in your MOT expiry or tax due date. Enter your registration number and tap Look up — Kepthouse fetches the details directly from the DVLA and fills them in for you.
The lookup returns:
- Make, colour, and year of manufacture
- Engine capacity and fuel type
- MOT expiry date and status (valid, expired, or no result held)
- Tax due date and status
- CO2 emissions
You get a preview of the results before anything is saved. Tap Import and the fields are populated instantly.
Enter your reg, tap Look up, review the DVLA result, and import
Automatic daily checks
Premium subscribers get something extra. Once you have looked up a vehicle, Kepthouse checks the DVLA every day at 5:00 AM in the background. If your MOT or tax status changes — for example, when you renew your MOT after an advisory — the app updates your dates automatically and sends you a notification.
No more opening gov.uk to check if your renewal went through. The dates in Kepthouse stay current without you doing anything.
Asset Reminders Dashboard
Until now, the dashboard showed tasks, expiring warranties, and upcoming subscription payments. That left a gap: what about your MOT, your dog's vaccination, or your property's gas safety certificate?
The new Asset Reminders section on the dashboard pulls in every upcoming date from your vehicles, pets, and properties. Each item is colour-coded by urgency:
- Red — overdue
- Amber — due within the next few days
- Teal — upcoming within 30 days
Asset Reminders on the dashboard — vehicles, pets, and properties in one view
Tap any reminder to jump straight to the asset. The section appears automatically once you have vehicles, pets, or properties with upcoming dates — no setup required.
Widget improvements
The home screen widget has also been updated. You can now independently toggle vehicles, pets, and properties on or off, and each type shows with its own distinct colour so you can tell at a glance what needs attention.
Get the update
v1.3 is available now on Google Play. If you already have Kepthouse installed, the update should arrive automatically. DVLA lookup is available to Premium subscribers — if you haven't tried Premium yet, there's still time to use the free trial code premtrial for 30 days of unlimited access.
