Preparing for Launch — Projects, Pets, Properties and More

The beta is coming to an end. Before we go live on Google Play, we've packed in three major features that round out what Kepthouse can do for your home.

When we started the Kepthouse beta three weeks ago, the app tracked tasks, warranties, subscriptions, appliances, vehicles, and contacts. That was the foundation. But we kept hearing the same thing from testers: "This is great for the house, but what about the renovation? What about the dog? What about my rental?"

So we built it.

Projects — renovations and big jobs, organised

If you've ever done a kitchen refit, a bathroom renovation, or any job involving more than one tradesperson, you know the pain. Quotes in your email, receipts in a drawer, tasks on a sticky note, and no idea whether you're over budget until it's too late.

Projects bring all of that together in one place.

Project detail with progress bar, budget warning, and itemised spend

Here's what you get:

  • Budget tracking — set a budget and log every spend item with a description, amount, date, and category (Materials, Labour, Permits, Delivery, Skip Hire, Tools, Other)
  • Budget warnings — a yellow warning at 80% spend, red when you go over. No more nasty surprises at the end of a job.
  • Receipt attachments — attach photos of receipts to each spend item via camera or gallery. Premium users can attach multiple receipts per item.
  • Progress bar — link tasks to your project and the progress bar automatically shows how many are complete. No manual updating.
  • Primary contact — assign your lead tradesperson or contractor. Their details are always one tap away.
  • Deadline reminders — set a target end date and get reminded as it approaches.
  • Full linking — connect your project to warranties, contacts, assets, and tasks. Everything stays connected.

Pets — because they're family too

Almost every household we talked to had at least one pet. And almost all of them tracked vet appointments, vaccinations, and insurance details in their head or not at all.

Pets are now a full asset type in the Vault, sitting alongside appliances and vehicles.

  • Species, breed, date of birth — the basics
  • Microchip number — legally required for dogs in the UK and Ireland. Always to hand when you need it.
  • Vet contact — link directly to a contact in your People list. Or create a new one on the spot.
  • Insurance policy number — no more hunting through emails to find your policy reference
  • Vaccination and vet visit reminders — automatic notifications before dates are due, configurable per pet
  • Weight and medication — track ongoing health details in one place

Properties — for landlords and homeowners

If you own more than one property, or if you're a landlord, you know how many dates and certificates you need to keep track of. EPC expiry. Gas safety. EICR. Building insurance. Contents insurance. Lease end dates. It's a lot.

Properties are now a full asset type with dedicated fields for everything a UK or Irish homeowner or landlord needs.

  • Address and property type — House, Flat, Bungalow, Commercial, Land, or Other
  • EPC rating and expiry — track your Energy Performance Certificate (valid 10 years, legally required before selling or letting)

  • Building and contents insurance — separate renewal date tracking for each
  • Lease end date — for leasehold properties
  • Key holder and letting agent — link to contacts so their details are always to hand
  • Per-date reminders — different reminder schedules for different dates. 90 days notice for EPC, 14 for gas safety — you decide.

Other improvements in this update

  • Home screen widget — configurable items, card or text view, custom background, font size, and transparency
  • Feature tour — a swipeable showcase of everything Kepthouse can do, with animated mockups. Accessible from More at any time.
  • Collapsible dashboard sections — collapse and expand sections with persisted state and item count badges
  • Responsive calendar — adapts layout for tall, standard, and compact screens. Swipe navigation and quick-add on long press.
  • Keyboard fixes — fixed several dialogs and bottom sheets where the keyboard could cover input fields
  • Lifetime premium — one-off purchase option alongside monthly and annual subscriptions

What happens next

The beta has been brilliant. We've shipped over 20 updates in three weeks, driven almost entirely by feedback from real testers. Every major feature — calendar import, usage history, projects — came from someone saying "wouldn't it be great if..."

Now we're preparing for the full Google Play launch. That means:

  • Final round of testing with beta testers
  • Play Store listing, screenshots, and metadata
  • Production release to everyone

To every tester who's been with us from the start — thank you. You filed bugs at midnight, suggested features over breakfast, and tested builds that occasionally didn't even launch. This app exists in its current form because of you. The first 25 beta testers keep premium for life — that promise stands, and it always will.

If you haven't tried it yet, there's still time to join the beta before we go live.
